LE COQ SPORTIF
Le coq sportif finds it origins in 1882 in Troyes, a French region synonymous with the very finest in hosiery craftsmanship. During the first half of the 20th century one of these craftsman, Emile Camuset, combined his dual passions for hosiery and sport to create the tricolour brand. Applying his drive and expertise he led it to become the leader in sports apparel and first choice of sportsmen.

By the use of functional jersey and the application of innovative knitting techniques, he reinvented sport garments in the early 19th century, culminating in the comfort and performance of The Seven-Day Suit – the tracksuit. Then based in Romilly, this passion, and sincerity to the craftsman’s exacting values brought the brand to the pinnacle of world sporting excellence, the Tour de France for more than 40 years; the legendary World Cup-winning Argentina football team of 1986; tennis star and cultural icon Yannick Noah; and most notably equipping and outfitting the everyday sportsman.
